Mini Mania?

What is it about little things that make us just HAVE TO HAVE them?
Mini pizzas, mini Ipods, and the C.Dutchie Minis....they're all just so, cute!

Its seems to me that a lot of people are finding C.Dutchie's mini series; the perfect add on to everyday outfits. While the larger pieces are more statement making, the minis are a little less loud and just small enough to add on to any hair length or style; or clipped to bags, or sweaters for a fun touch.

(Hey you can even wear more then one at a time.)

Here's a look at some of the newbies about to go on sale....
what do you think? Anything you'd like to see miniature?

"Army Of One"

"Lil Bling"

"Cement"

"Kuffs"

"Mini-Lo"

I love the Minis just as much as I love the bigger pieces but I will say, working with such tiny materials....is hard!!!!

How will I wear my Dutchie?

Lets show some hair with these pieces!

The C.Dutchie Difference is versatility with our Hair pieces.

They can be added to any outfit or hair style, in anyway. The gator clip back allows the piece to be attached to any point of your hair (even if its a short as a pixi cut) and may even be attached to actual garments.

Above all my hair has been pushed to one side and the "Holla" Mini has been placed slightly back and up on my opposing ear.

Here:
I have quickly (5 mins or less) put my hair in a half up/ half down type poof, gathered hair from the front top and pulled it to the back of my head. I left my bangs out, used a curling iron just around the frame of my face and put the hair piece (Master) where I gathered my hair.

It is now the center piece of my outfit.

Side Pony Tail/Braid/Fish Tale

The Easiest and one of the cutest ways to wear your Dutchie is in a messy side, pony tail, braid, or fish tale (if you can make one! Have you ever tried..uhhh working on it!)

Here I just gathered my hair to one side, started to loosely braid it leaving out pieces to give it a messy effect and used a hair band at the bottom. Then I took The Master Dutchie piece and propped it slightly below my ear, where the braid was the most undone.

*Its also a good idea to put your hair in a side pony and attach the Dutchie to the hair band.

Here is the same styling as before, but shows how the hair piece can complement an article of clothing and an entire look. Plus I just wanted to show off my ill Bob Marley Jacket.

I usually don't pull my hair SO far to the side, and if so wouldn't use a mini I would go for a larger side, but that's just me.

Everyone has their way to wear their Dutchie.

"Miles"

Mile: 1 = 5280 feet

Miles: A distance, the more miles; The further you have to go.

Miles: A name, Strom; Also a Name,

Feel like you've been traveling for miles.
Is there a destination in sight? Is it a place?
Or are the miles in your mind, going toward something that seems a distance away.

Just remember where you came from; It may help you get where your going...
Even if "Your going through Hell, Keep going"

Pretty soon those miles, will turn to just one...

 The "Miles" Dutchie

....and you'll get where you are supposed to be.

Gleek out! Warblers edition.

Do you LOVE Glee?

No? Oh do you worship Satan?

Seriously HOW could anyone not love the fox series? With amazing wit, characters with Charm and most of all amazing remakes of some of the best songs of all time...I cant help but smile ear to ear (and cry) whenever Tuesday night rolls around.

Glee makes me totally HAPPY.

The show has progressed a long way since the first season, hitting hard with the Britney Episode, Gweneth Paltrow's cover of F**k You, ,and this seasons regionals.

Original songs was a risk, for the new directions as well as the show. We all know they can sing, but do we want to hear new writing instead of the classics? The risk turned out to be a win, as regionals blew it out the water and created a episode of perfection.

Oh HELL to the Yes;)

Though I have covered Gleek Leah Michelle's Dress in the "Leah" Dutchie, I wanted to make something with more or a homage to the show.
And after Blane and Kurt's announced love I knew exactly what I wanted to make.

Welcome "The Warblers" Dutchie.

Based on the signature uniform of the New directions opposing team and home to our beloved Kurt
I tried to make this piece resemble the jacked with a created tie going down each flower piece.

 "The Warblers" Dutchie

I think it came out a cute and classy looking piece, perfect for any Gleek; which yes, I am.

Day 66 : Amy Dunn 365 Project

Project 365 and New uses for a Mini!

I'm always looking for new ways to show people how to wear their dutchies; pony tails, buns, with a poof and etc. That's why I was delighted when my amazingly talented and fellow pet lover friend Amy Dunn, sent me this shot of the "Mini Mila" on her dog Mia.

She said her pup actually didn't mind the clip, though most of us dog owners know it can be a pain to keep them on their fur.

So adorable and I'm so honored to be a part of this really cool photo experiment. Be sure to check out her website and see what else shes been brewing up!

loves it!

"The Bling Ring"

"The Bling Ring"

The name just happened to fit; with this all gold, multiple material piece.
I cant help it if pop culture has already coined the term with the infamous "Bling Ring" of socialites that stole from the likes of Lindsey Lohan and Orlando Bloom.
(I don't condone robbery, heroine use or having your own E! reality show about it)

But I do condone looking fierce and "Bling-in" (un-funny pun intended!)
whatever it is you choose to do.

The piece wouldn't be complete without a Ring. So, in the pieces center is a vintage ring cut and placed with a four stone setting.

warning:
If you are planning the robbery of a social circle, fair warning don't wear this while in action; it tends to get you noticed.

and some people still believe that Animals dont have feelings or souls....REALLY?!

In this time of great devistation, we must all be reminded of our humanity. Religion, race, gender, and beliefs aside we are all children of this Earth which is in much turmoil. With global disaster there is noone to point the finger at; But we must take a minute to listen to the planet, move foward with saving it and its resources and most importantly working together to aid one and other in times like these; and in our everyday lives.

Be Kind, you never know what someone is going through.

Is Art, Art?

"What is Art? Are we Art? Is Art, Art?"

A line taken from my all time favorite early 90's television show,
Saved by the Bell.
I used the phrase and influence of colors from the time to make the piece, "Is Art, Art?"
In both Dutchie and Mini size.

Do you know what character said this and to who???

"Is Art, Art?" Dutchie

"Is Art, Art?" Mini

Considering color block patterns are one of the looks for spring, this is a perfect piece for anyone that wants in on the style but doesn't wanna spend a ton on a color block dress or leggings;
quite frankly who would look  good in those?

If you can tell me who said that line and to who, there may be a prize in store.

Sometimes you'll Catch me in A Dutchie

Thanks,
 to Artist Claire London

(http://www.clairelondon.com/) -- Seriously take a Listen!

for sending me these shots from her show at Angels and Kings.

Gave Claire a good-luck "Like a Machine" Dutchie before showtime.

The "Lemme show you how to do it Son" aka "J-Lo" had to make its Premiere:

                                                                Rock and Roll

"Say we go up in Flames together?"

"Say we go up in Flames Together?" - Chuck Bass to Blaire; Gossip Girl

What do we dream of in romance? Look for in another? Believe that somewhere, out there, there is someone designed entirely for us.
I believe that we all have a soul-mate.
The one that pushes us beyond our own thought of potential; understands the inner workings of our mind and morals.

The one that completes us, but doesn't make us whole.

The entire plot line behind the Chuck and Blaire romance arch on Gossip Girl, is just that. In their union of love they are unstoppable; together an untamable force. But alone they have not established themselves as whole halves and there for must either chose now and crumble to the ground together ; Or build upon themselves and leave it to fate. Leave with confidence that when each becomes a whole half, there will be a window of time opened allowing them to be together.

This is the Scene that inspired this piece "Say we go up in Flames Together?"
This is my take on the notion of loving another and ones own self.

It takes a great writer to create a epic romance.

and I have faith.

"If two people were meant to be together, eventually they'll find their way back." --Chuck

Shop Spring in your Closet!

In New York, just a ten degree increase in temperature can really ignite spring fever. After one of the coldest and most snowy winters, were just rounding out the last few hurdles.
 FINALLY
The dresses that  have been closeted by the winter doom will get to see the light of day!

                                                       Freedom at last.

Personally, I wear a dress or a wife beater (usually black) with jeggings or some kind of comfortable bottom. Thats my staple; my constant of clothing.
After that its all about the accessories and hair (half of my constant battle with being blonde.)

So today I decided to open up the doors
go shopping in my own closet
and put some looks together for when I can come out of hibernation and store the uggs.

First: The dress. I picked an all Cotton jersey style, for comfort. Easy Breezy, but with a fun print (Note: the pink splatters on the design didn't pick up well in these shots; but are there and bright)

In the day time, I will wear this with black sandals or booties.

Second: The Dutchie (Master)
Done well, mixing different prints is one of the cutest and most daring ways to show your style. This Master piece, although it has an entirely different pattern, matches perfectly with the design print of the dress and its over all theme. Especially with the splashes of pink on both the Master hair piece and dress.

In the daytime Id roll with it on a side braid, or side fish tale braid with the Master piece clipped to the top/middle.

By night leave my hair down and  undone from the braids; a little wild with the Master piece on the side.

Third: Grab these kick ass bright pink shoes to tie together all the colors and push with one of the seasons biggest trends; bright colors.

If you don't have any bright colored pumps, or aren't up on wearing heels; the best way to tie your total look is with make up.

* A bright pink lip will add the same pull together of the color scheme.
I suggest YSL, Rouge Volupte; 10
Its the best bright pink lipstick Ive ever used and looks good on nearly any skin tone.

Or I could just wear my black wife beater, jeggings and This Master Hair Piece with the lipstick and make it a chill night....oh the options.

"Street Lights"

Streetlights lyrics: Kanye West

let me know, do i still got time to grow
things ain't always set in stone
with that being, let me know
let me

seems like streetlights glowing
happened to be just like moments
passing, in front of me so
i hopped in, the cab and
i paid my fair, see
i know my, destination
but I'm just not there
all the streetlights glowing
happened to be just like moments
passing, in front of me so
i hopped in, the cab and
i paid my fair, see
i know my, destination
but I'm just not there in the streets
in the streets
I'm just not there in the streets

I'm just no there
life's just not fair

seems like streetlights glowing
happened to be just like moments
passing, in front of me so
i hopped in, the cab and
i paid my fair, see
i know my, destination
but I'm just not there
all the streetlights glowing
happened to be just like moments
passing, in front of me so
i hopped in, the cab and
i paid my fair, see
i know my, destination
but I'm just not there in the streets
in the streets
I'm just not there in the streets
I'm just no there
life's just not fair

As a full time New Yorker (Yes, Born and Raised in the city) I found such personal meaning in this song. I feel that its one of Kanye West's most underrated and humanistic songs to date.

We can all relate to the passing of time - maybe we feel like we cant keep up. Or we find ourselves rushing and not even know where we are heading; All we know is that were trying to get there fast...just like everyone else.

Trust me I love my City, but its no easy relationship. New York is the boyfriend you cant seem to let go; treats you like crap sometimes, finding yourself exhausted just trying to keep up with the flow of the streets, trying to get ahead only to be set back. There isn't room to breathe. There are millions of people trying to do the same thing, and your depending on your city to have your back. In the winter its cold and full of slush and just as your about to pack your bags and go; somewhere warm, where you can take each moment for what it is....he lures your back with a gorgeous Spring day or an experience that couldn't be had anywhere else in the world.
And the cycle continues....Sigh.
